So if you live in Jeddah You probably thought of last weekend as the best of this year, when it comes to weather of course. It was chilling, it was cloudy, and I don?t know what you?d call it, but in my circle we call it ?Londonesque?. That is why I had this urge to seek out an outdoorsy place with a sea view that serves good food. My wife suggested? Il Villaggio?, it has no sea view, but it has a terrace and it serves great food, but I was stubborn and I wanted my sea view darn it!

So we went to the Equestrian Club Marina to try out one of its venues;?Laserena Lounge? in the second floor, in the location where ?Muse? once was ? a French Seafood restaurant. We opted for the terrace, which was the whole point, and the waiter gave us the menu pretty quickly. One look at the menu and it clear the place was shockingly expensive. We chose one appetizer and two main courses, and considering how all the drinks were priced, we chose only soft drinks. Those were not cheap either (menu says 19 SR per can of soft drink, but in the check they were actually 12 SR/can).

We chose Shrimp Bonbon (61 SR) for appetizer, Beef burger (71 SR), and Gnocchi with Shrimps (92 SR). It didn?t take long for our food to arrive, the shrimp and the burger first, then the gnocchi dish. Our Shrimp bonbon was an assortment of spring rolls (5 of them to be precise) with both tartar and cocktail sauces on the side. Taste-wise they were good but not great. My burger was bad, the patty itself wasn?t all that tasty, and the bacon seemed undercooked and chewy.

I could have had the same size burger in ?Fuddruckers? that would have tasted way better and for half that price. It came with fries and side salad, the fries where too crispy and a bit greasy, but the salad was ok (although it?s hard to get a salad wrong when it consists of lettuce leaves and dressing). My wife?s gnocchi was tasty. It looked like Cr?me Brulee actually, and she liked the taste quite a bit. To me, tasty and all, it was more of a shrimp soup with a little bit of gnocchi that you will have to fish for. I ate almost half her entr?e, but I only had three pieces of gnocchi. The whole experience set me back SR248. It could have been worse, but I wish it was worth it.
